Case by Catherine Bozon.
Boy, 6 ½ years old, enuresis.
He goes to bed at 20:00, then his mother gets him up to pee at 22:00, otherwise he wets his bed.
He is allergic to eggs and milk, even sheep’s milk. This gives him breathing difficulties and an itchy back. He has dry skin on his hands.
He likes to be at home. He adapts elsewhere, but… He cries when brought to kindergarten, clings to his mother and makes a scene. He can be very kind, but also nasty and difficult, saying things like “you’re really stupid!” to his mother. At home he plays the tough guy, he raises his fist and pretends to hit his mother. He wants to play football but is too timid to play with strangers.
He loves to fish with his father, he can even kill and gut the fish himself.
He loves to play with his little cars, and to play fireman.
He especially loves gardening. He has his own veggie patch which he spades himself, where he digs holes, carries stones and grows vegetables. He goes into the forest and finds herbs, which he transplants to his garden and then waters them, looking after his plants by himself.
His favourite shop is the hardware shop, not the toy store. He has his own saw, he cuts wood in the forest.
His mother says that when he wants to do something, he does it well. He has good ideas, he likes to cook with her.
He gets angry when he is not allowed to do something he wants to do. Then he slams doors, throws things, pulls the sofa apart, shouts “I’ll kill you”, then goes into his room; it takes an hour for him to calm down. All this is worse when he is tired or hungry. He has extremes: either very nice or very aggressive.
Three wishes: all the Lego toys.
Trees for my garden.
A piece of land for myself, to make a garden.
He would like to play the trumpet, but does not have the discipline; he doesn’t like obligations, only playing.
He forgets the names of family members.
He has a fear of houses with ghosts.
Analysis
He is not mature. He still wets his bed, only wants to play, does not look forward to going to the primary school. He also looks young for his age.
He is a hard worker, gardening, spading, digging holes, sawing wood, carrying stones, fishing and gutting fish.
Desire for land to have a farm.
He is not an ordinary boy in today’s society.
All this leads to the Iron series and the ferns.
Prescription: one dose, then repeated one week later.
Follow-up
Eight weeks later his mother says:
Suddenly everything was fine. I felt there was a sudden change, so after 3 days I stopped putting him on the potty. No problem at all. His mood is better. He sometimes grumbles when he’s hungry or tired, but it doesn’t last.
He is now happy to go to the kindergarten, he no longer cries when I leave, he just says goodbye, Mum. He doesn’t make a scene anymore.
He is now happy to be starting school in September. It’s an incredible change.
